Art... or Porn? Andy Warhol's Couch

Last night I went with my roommate and some friends to see a few of Andy Warhol's short films. Only knowing about his artwork I thought, "oh this should be interesting...." I wish I had known. Now, I am totally into art and can appreciate things that might be a little bit on the obscene side....
However, this was WAY over the line for me. Really, I should have gotten up and walked out but I kept thinking. Surly, this has to be the last scene. Oh, this has to be it....
The film was a silent film, black and white, that held a static image of the couch in Andy Warhol's studio. Each "scene" was about 3 to 5 minutes long and progressed from just people sitting there, like Ginsberg and Kurouac, to people eating bananas.... and more people eating bananas... to a naked woman, to naked men, to naked men engaging in sex, to 3 men having sex, to 2 men and a women.... ok, you get the idea. That is why I kept thinking it would end everytime it would fade out. Then there would be a scene that was more graphic than the last.
Maybe I am too naive. Maybe I have sheltered myself. Maybe I am too frugal and not as "artistic" as I thought but it really disturbed me. This was "ART." I had a higher ideal of the beat/hippy generation. Times really weren’t any better than they are now and now we think that those people were these amazing avant-garde artists. They were just seeing what could be done just like people today do.
Hummm..... all really have to say is if that was "art" then I no longer want to be an "artist."
