Biblical Basis For Singleness
Greg thinks I should be a nun.... hum... interesting...
After some thought I dont think this is the right option for me. I think that I would be more effective in ministry if... hum... how do I explain this... It was not my written-in-stone-vocation. Also, I think that I really want to help in other parts of the church other than the Catholic church. Sorry greg... good idea though ;-)
But that did get me thinking about something that I heard on the radio recently. I found out later it was Alistair Begg. He was talking about 1 Corinthins 7 staring with verse one:
"Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry..."
Basically he went on to say that it is best to be single but if you desire too greatly to be married then it is good to be married. However, you should not marry if you are able to be single and stay pure.
So, that made me think--We chose to be married (aka... chose to enter into a relationship and then chose to marry) but does anyone CHOSE to be single? Other than nuns that is. What would that mean? Is that biblically based? Is that wrong?
...just a few questions I have been thinking about...
