Are Jesus and Care Bears Friends?

This is the Talking Jesus Doll from Talking Bible Dolls. A little frightening, isn't it?

Most of the verses that he says are paraphrases of verses about how much Jesus loves us which I suppose is nice for children. Yes, Jesus loves us but there is a hell of a lot more to it than that.

What if he also said other verses like:

Matthew 4:7 "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'"

or

Matthew 17:17
And Jesus answered and said, "You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you?"

That would be enough to freak out a little kid... but seriously, why the doll? All that seems to do is to make Jesus into even more of a caricature that the modern church as already made him. He went from a symbol of a bloody man hanging on a stake to a fun, loving, doll.

There has to be a middle ground somewhere. We can't only see Jesus as the sacrifical lamb (which he was) or as the best friend (which he can be) But as a living God... there is no symbol for that... there should not be a toy for that either. When we create a fun little doll that has to be offensive to the awsome nature of God.
