what is the problem with people...
Today I (being an american citizen by birth)
was talking to a friend of mine that I work with
(also an american citizen but not by birth)
about how wednesday two of her husband's brothers
(not citizens but have lived here for 12 years)
were arrested by INS.
Appeartly some "well meaning" person called INS on them when the older of the two came to a school meeting with the younger of the two... how screwed up is that? Can't you just picture of nosy old woman watching them come through the door and say to herself "damn mexicans..."
So, this is what happened next-- As soon as they walked out the door they both got carted off and they were seperated while INS figured out how to send them back to Mexico. They decided to send the older one first and then at a later date send the younger of the two (15 years old) to the border and drop him off. A fifteen year old with no money and no family being dropped off at the border and told to cross... that is even more screwed up.
These people are not citizens but that does not mean they are criminals, lazy, non-taxpayers, or bad people. Or system is just too screwed up to allow them to become citizens... It is really a bad system when 15 year old attend a manitory school meeting and are abducted by the INS...
That was really upsetting to me today.
