Gas should be cheap and hitchhiking should be safe....

It frustrates me how dependent I am on what little money I have. I don't like credit cards so I try to live simply and pay for everything as I go. This weekend I wanted to visit my friend leah. I had it all planned and the dog ready to go... but then I recieved a bill that I was not expecting.... which meant I could no longer affort to pay for the six and a half hour drive.

As you all know, sometimes life sucks.

Wouldn't it be nice if somehow our society was not based on money? I know there has to be some type of bartering system but what if we were able to say "I cant afford to pay you for this gas right now but when I get paid I will pay for it." And the other person would say, "ok, that sound good." Or, "I know someone who is going that way and can take you." Maybe insead of paying the person that gave us the gas we could do something for him like bake him bread or something.

Wouldn't that be nice.

I suppose we would have to have a different, more honest, trustworthy human nature for that type of society to work. That is obivously not going to happen. So, instead I guess I will be staying home this weekend wishing I lived in the 50's or 60's where I could go thumb a ride.
